Andy Perlman brings a unique blend of expertise to his role as Chief Executive Officer at First Continental Mortgage (FCM), drawing on his extensive experience in both homebuilding and mortgage lending. Originally from Houston, Andy attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a degree in Business Administration.

His career began in mortgage lending in secondary marketing providing a strong foundation in the financial aspects of the industry. Andy then transitioned into the homebuilding sector, where he served as the owner and president of a custom home building company, overseeing all aspects of the business operations.

In 2003, Andy joined FCM with a mission to forge strategic business partnerships and joint ventures with home builders.

Today, as CEO, Andy is dedicated to ensuring the success of FCM’s borrowers, builders, and employees. His passion, insight, and deep industry knowledge are instrumental in refining FCM’s business strategy and driving the company's continued growth as a nationwide mortgage lender.

Chris Johnston brings 30 years of experience in mortgage lending (18 years at First Continental), with a deep expertise in new construction financing. As President of FCM, he has helped thousands of families achieve homeownership. Chris attended Washington State University, earning a master’s degree.

Beyond his career, Chris is deeply involved in his community raising and donating over $2 million to support youth sports, schools, and nonprofit organizations. Chris is a devoted husband and father who enjoys traveling and cheering on WSU and the Seahawks.

He was also recognized by the University of Washington Milgard School of Business as Small Business Leader of the Year for his role in owning and operating Sparks Firehouse Deli.

David brings over 20 years of deep expertise in the housing industry, having held key roles at Zonda and its predecessor companies, Metrostudy and Hanley Wood. Known for his strategic insights, David has been a trusted advisor to homebuilders, lenders, and developers across the nation, helping them navigate market complexities and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, David has been immersed in the housing industry since 1984. In his current role, he leads the charge in developing innovative mortgage joint ventures with home builders nationwide, strengthening our company’s partnerships and expanding our reach. David is also a crucial resource for providing timely market insights, ensuring our affiliated builder partners stay informed and competitive.

David’s leadership and deep industry knowledge have made him a key figure in our company’s success, driving initiatives that align with both market needs and our strategic goals.

Mat Russo, Senior Executive Vice President at First Continental Mortgage, brings over 35 years of experience in the mortgage industry. A graduate of the University of New Mexico with a degree in Political Science, Mat began his career as a Loan Officer and has steadily advanced to his current leadership role. His tenure at First Continental over the past five years has been marked by his commitment to excellence, reflected in his status as a consistent top producer and the numerous leadership awards he has received.

Mat’s approach to leadership is deeply rooted in servant leadership. He takes great pride in mentoring loan officers, helping them elevate their productivity through superior customer service, quality originations, and effective communication with both buyers and builder partners. Mat finds his greatest satisfaction in the success of his team, showcasing his dedication to fostering growth and excellence within the organization.

Outside of work, Mat is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fly fishing and hunting. He’s also a retired football official and a dedicated fan of high school and college sports, particularly the UT Longhorns. His life reflects a balance of professional dedication and personal passions, making him a respected leader and mentor within the industry.

Jason Shortnacy, Senior Vice President at First Continental, brings over 20 years of experience in mortgage lending to the Dallas region. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Economics and International Business, Jason’s professional journey began in leadership roles within the hospitality industry, where he honed his skills in customer service and management. Transitioning into the mortgage sector, he quickly advanced from loan officer to his current role, where he oversees production and plays a key part in the company's success.

Jason is deeply passionate about helping homebuyers navigate the complexities of purchasing a home. His dedication and enthusiasm have earned him a reputation as a trusted leader in the industry. Beyond his professional achievements, Jason is actively involved in his community, coaching his son's baseball team and cheering for his favorite Texas sports teams, including the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas A&M Aggies. His life reflects a commitment to hard work, family, and the satisfaction of helping others achieve their dreams.

Scott Pocock is a seasoned mortgage professional with over 30 years of industry experience. His journey in home financing is built on a strong foundation in construction and structural engineering, combined with a passion for helping families achieve homeownership.

A native of Rochester, Michigan, Scott attended Michigan Technological University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering before pursuing his MBA at Michigan State University. He began his career as a Construction Manager for Pulte Homes before transitioning into mortgage lending.

Scott served two terms on the Board of Mercy Housing, one of the nation’s largest non-profit affordable housing organizations. Outside of work, Scott is an avid sports fan, cheering for Detroit teams and passionately following the Nebraska Cornhuskers—a loyalty passed down from his parents.

Mike Bulfin has spent 16 years in the residential mortgage capital markets and secondary industry, developing a deep expertise in managing market fluctuations and ensuring competitive lending solutions. His career began at a wholesale lender. Throughout his career, Mike has maintained an impressive track record, never returning a negative month and consistently driving profitability. However, his greatest professional accomplishment is the success of the teams he has built.

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Mike attended the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and was recognized as an All-American in springboard diving. Outside of work, Mike enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter.

His leadership in mortgage lending is defined not only by financial success but by his commitment to fostering growth—both within his team and across the industry.
